October Updates

Birthday Bash

All I can say is WOW and THANK YOU. Our 4th Birthday Bash was a huge success and we appreciate everyone coming out and wishing us a Happy Birthday. The cake that was donated by Trig's was delicious, as usual, and we do thank them for their support of Scrapbook Studio. Everyone had a great time making cards for the troops which added another 100 + to our count. Again, thank you for helping us celebrate four (4) years in business. With many of the local scrapbook stores closing around us, we value your patronage and your continued support of the small independent stores, such as Scrapbook Studio.

Central Wisconsin Scrapbook & Stamp Expo

The 3rd Annual Central Wisconsin Scrapbook & Stamp Expo is just around the corner. Be sure and mark your calendars for the Expo set for Saturday, November 15, from 9a until 3p at John Muir Middle School in Wausau. We have approximately 22 vendors signed up to participate in this Expo. There will be plenty of make 'n takes, lots of new products for sale and door prize drawings every half hour. We will be having our Grand Prize Drawings at 2:00p and you must be present to win. This year, PK Creations from Wausau will be offering lunch between 11a and 2p. They will be serving various sandwiches, soup, salads, beverages and desserts. We look forward to working with them, and know everything will be delicious, since the chef comes from Michael's Candy. Admission to the Expo is $5.00, but you can pick up a $1.00 off coupon from many area scrapbooking & stamping stores. We are also working on getting that coupon put on our website. If you have any questions regarding the Expo, please call 715-845-8859.

Cards for the Troops Football Challenge

Remember the Football Challenge that my friend Sue, from Scrapbooks Too in Minneapolis agreed to a few weeks ago? Well, it seems she is resorting to "bribery" to get her customers to make Thanksgiving cards for the troops. Yes, she is offering one raffle ticket for every card they make; make six cards get six tickets. At the end of the Packer/Viking game on Sunday, November 9, she will be drawing names for five great prizes. How low can she go!!!I've toyed with the idea of using bribery also, and have decided that I will do whatever it takes to win this Challenge and make sure we have plenty of cards for the troops. So, beginning Saturday, November 1, everyone that brings in a card, or makes a card in the Studio, will get a raffle ticket for each card. I have even upped (or is it upt) the anti and will be offering six gifts. The drawings will take place at the end of the game, after our call to Scrapbooks Too, and you must be present to win (about 2:45-3:15p). As a reminder, the challenge is...for every card made by customers at our LSS by the end of the Packer/Viking game on Sunday, November 9, we get a point per card. The store that wins the football game gets an extra 25 points and the score of the game is worth that many points for each store; if Packers win 27 to Vikings 20, then Scrapbook Studio gets 25 points for winning the game and the extra 27 points for their score. We also get a point for every customer in the store at the end of the game. Please mark your calendars now to be at Scrapbook Studio on Sunday, November 9. We will be doing a last minute card crop, watch the game and eat football food. We are even going to open early at 10a to get prepared for kick-off time at noon. If our store is full of customers at the end of the game, we are sure to win this challenge. This is what we need from you now:1. As many Thanksgiving cards that you can make at home and bring them into the Studio to get your raffle tickets. 2. Make a card or two when you come to the Studio to shop. We have a card making station set up in the crop area and the card literally takes about two minutes to make. Please take the time to make a few cards for the troops. 3. If you have someone you know that is serving overseas, please be sure to let us know, so we can send him or her some cards.4. Attend the "final" card making crop on Sunday, November 9, at 10a or at least visit the store between 2:45 and 3:15 when we make the call to Scrapbooks Too to let them know how many cards we made and how many customers we have in the Studio. 5. Root, Root for the home team...GO PACKERS!!! VIKINGS SUCK...6. Say a prayer for our service men and women serving and protecting our country. Psss - Just a little secret - Scrapbooks Too's goal is 1000 cards and as of Monday, they had a little over 200. I can't say a lot here, because I know she will be reading this, but we had a little more than that on Monday. Not to mention the TV coverage we received yesterday while we had 12 second graders in the Studio making cards. Woo Hoo!!! There is a very good chance that we will have TV coverage on the day of the game also - be sure to wear your green and gold, or your red, white and blue!!! Watch out Scrapbooks Too in Minneapolis, MN! We can't control what the Packers do---but we CAN make more cards than you!

Cell Phones for Soldiers

Another Reminder:Scrapbook Studio is proud to be the Cell Phones for Solders collection site for the Wausau Area! Bring in your retired cell phones and let Cell Phones for Soldiers turn them into prepaid calling cards for U.S. troops stationed overseas! The phones are sent to ReCellular, which pays Cell Phones for Soldiers for each donated phone – enough to provide an hour of talk time to soldiers abroad!
